From a maintenance and repair standpoint, bolt-on guitars are a much better solution....trust me, if you have a problem with a neck-through it's hit or miss doing a neck-press or similar operation...wheras if you have a bolt-on, worse case scenario you can replace the entire offending neck if necessary to get back up again.
I had a really cool San Dimas Soloist finished in Platinum White that had some serious neck issues...was it a manufacturing or owner problem/defect, I don't know..but it was essentially unplayable. I checked into having it repaired and was frightened at the cost and no guarantee of a fix.
Fortunately, I worked out a deal with another forum member who has a fetish for reverse headstock Soloist's and off it went, I never did find out if it was salvaged and fixed or not....
