Realistic Goals??
**Update**
I've been killing myself with alternate, economy, and sweep-picking ideas since about August seriously...when I started, I could barely play 16th notes at 100 BPM without struggling....which is only about 7 notes-per-second...sextuplets...forget it lol....
Now, I'm hovering around 140-150 BPM's for 16th notes, depending on the picking pattern and which style of picking (alternate or economy) picking....and around 100ish BPM's for sextuplets...all in all, around 10 notes per second...doesn't sound like that much of an increase I realize...but the physical aspect of just those 4 notes is a lot...
I'm on a time-schedule...I only have until late summer or early fall to hammer this out...Chris and I are gonna start working together on the songs about that time in the new studio...working out songs/parts, who's doing what etc.
My personal goal for the short-term is to be able to play along with Bark at the Moon and nail the main-solo's ending flurry of sextuplets...unfortunately Jake is a picking mo-fo at around 150 BPM's or 15 notes per second...it's FLYING...if you listen to the original recording through headphones, you can hear the distint "click" of the pick-attack on each sextuplet run...amazing player...
What is "reasonable" for the average guitarist??
If I can hit upwards of 15 notes-per-second...I think that will be my ceiling...I will never be a Gilbert, Jake, Lane, or any other of the well-known picking monsters....
What's realistic??
