I've been playing a LOT lately....concentrating on my accuracy, volume, attack, and definition...about half of it on the bass strings...my picks have been getting SHREDDED like it's cool...
I use the Dunlop 2mm "Big Stubby's" and while I love them, they seem to wear pretty badly quick after playing for a while, and when you first get them, there's a "ridge" on the edge's from the molding process that annoys me and can catch the strings at high-speeds causing friction, which slows you down...
So, I bought some cheap emery boards that the ladies use for their claws at the local supermarket to see if my theory had any validity to it...I filed the edges of the pics down to a "V" and slightly rounding it so that it "should" have less resistance and slide through the strings easier...it worked!!
Now, I've been on the same pick for about 2 weeks...it's wearing, but by using the emery boards, I can re-shape and bevel the pick in a few seconds and be back in business playing....
I haven't tried this on any other picks, like the nitrocellulose ones or the ones made by Clayton, though it should be about the same...
Lemme know if you find it helpful and usefull to you
