I had wanted one of these since they first came out, but had heard the horror stories about cheap Deans. So I put it off, not being able to afford one of the high end Mustaines.
But, being a Megadeth freak, and united Abominations fan that I am, I made the plunge when the UA graphic came out. I figured that if the guitar sucked as bad as people say that cheap Deans do, well it will look great on the wall.
Well, I was surprised to say the least. First off, the finish is flawless. It's polyester, and looks like it's six inches thick. Not a run, fish eye or anything in this finish. Nothing but shine. The neck is supposed to be a Mustaine profile, but feels like a Jackson neck. Which makes sense. It is an incredibly fast neck. The action is superb, and I will have to do NO FRETWORK to this guitar. Yep, frets are flawless. Tuners are Grovers. And the neck is unfinished. The pots are nice and smooth, work like they're supposed too. As for the pickups, well, it's a 300 dollar guitar. Now don't get me wrong, if you play nothing but what this guitar was designed for it's fantastic. Throw as much gain as you can at her, she'll melt your face. But, they lack clarity. Go figure.
Anyway, I'm going to throw a set of Live wires in here, and she'll freaking smoke. All in all, it's the best 300 bucks I've ever spent on an out of the box guitar. Now I've got to go get a regular black one so this can hang on the wall and look good!
