OK, so...
Friday: Headlining show/my singer's birthday party. The soundguy was a jackass, and the sound sucked the entire night. Our set was one of our better ones...The band was tight as hell, and the SLSMG really took my playing up a notch. We covered "Crystal Mountain" by Death and really took the house down. The only downside was my singer being blackout drunk, rambling nonstop between songs, and nearly losing his voice at the end of the set. Overall though, a good time.
Saturday: Opening act. Got to the venue a little late, and the parking lot across the way was almost full. Carrying equipment through a parking lot in the winter is not fun when you have asthma. The sound was considerably better than the night before, but the energy was lower, and we picked a couple of the wrong songs to play. The Worcester crowd doesn't like dynamics, apparently. Not that we were bad by any means, just not as tight as on Friday. For some reason, when we were done we had to carry our equipment around the back of the building and through an alley. We missed the entire next band's set because of this. I've been to this venue twice in the last couple of months and I've NEVER seen a band have to do this. Ridiculous.
Anyways, good weekend overall. Doubt we'll be pulling double duty again any time soon though!
