My mother has a Ford Explorer and it acts pissy sometimes. The other day it wouldn't stay started for her so I had a look at it and found it was too low on oil and the coolant tank was dry.
So I put a quart of oil in it for her and filled the tank with water. It started right up and ran fine. The next day it started that shit again, so I told her to have a mechanic look at it. My knowledge and interest in fixing cars is very limited.
She takes it to this Goodyear place not far from here and I told her before she went they'd only hook it up to a computer and if it can't find the problem they're completely lost as to what the problem could be. They did that to my Camaro last year, but I said at least they won't charge you for it if they can't find and fix the problem... I also told her to have the radiator flushed and refilled with coolant and have the oil and filters changed...
They call a few hours later confirming what I said. They couldn't find the problem because the computer said it's fine...
So I take her to pick it up and they charged her $70! They didn't flush the radiator or add coolant and didn't change the oil, just filled it...
That was the most expensive 2 quarts of oil I've ever seen!
What happened to the days when your ride fucked up and took it to a mechanic they could fix it...Without a computer?!!
