Who builds thier own bodys?

I've done quite a bit of refinishing,hot rodding ,etc. over the years and think I am ready to step up to buying some templates and carving' out my own bodies.Been eye ballin' Stew-mac, and putting together a tool list, BUT .. is a router bit a router bit? they seem a tad pricey on somethings,don't get me wrong,I have thousands of dollars of Snap-on, Mac tools,quality is worth it,and some are obviously specific purpose you wouldn't find elsewhere,....any tips on better/other places for tools? Thanks
