Naked-sans cabinet.
Bottom plate will be included.
Based on the AX84 the Cygnus Lead Amp build #3 has plenty
of drive suitable for 80's metal all the way back to chickin pickin clean. Two gain controls allow a very wide range of tones.
Cathode follower tone controls are very EQ like and don't color the tone too much at all when dialed back.
Single ended cathode biased circuit allows for a wide variety of power tubes. 6V6 gives a good Fender clean/Mesa Boogie type drive. 6550 allows for more dynamic range allowing a nice crunchy Marshall distortion. Not buzzy-it is full.
Uses Mallory 150's for tone caps, metal film, wirewound and ceramic resistors (and a very small number of carbon film), high temp lexan eyelet boards.
Adjustment pot is there, but is not really needed.
Precision 1 ohm resistor is in there for bias measurement.
4,8,16 Ohm output jacks and an additional line out.
(Line out is only to be used with a speaker load on one of the taps).
Power supply is diode full wave bridge rectified. Very tight sounding and quiet!
Power board is seperate, mounted perpendicular to the preamp board.
Weber overrated PT runs cool. Hammond 125ESE OT is just right for this build.
Chassis is a Hammond aluminum.
Grounding is star, completely lifted from the chassis.
Wiring is double insulated cloth covered and teflon.
Save money by building the cab yourself or playing it as-is.
Full extra set of tubes is provided: 2x12AX7's and a chinese 6550. Comes with 12AX7's and a 6V6GT.
