Hell if I know.
I've been working with servers and super-high end desktops for aviation and bio-sciences and telecommunications for the last few years.
I could tell you good laptops... but as we all know those aren't reliable long term solutions, and especially not the greatest for video...or serving..or sound..
Dell seems to be the value-for the buck brand these days, I have not looked at thier desktop line however... just Superdomes ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$), Latitudes and Inspirons.
I can just say, get the fastest buses, most ram, as many processors (including dual and qaud core single processors, tho like 6 is better)... and something with a individual cpu clock speed of above 2.5mhz...the latest drivers and serivce packs for your OS.
No idea where to look on the shelf.
I'll build you a computer, you build me an amp. I think I still have it in me. Its been about 2-3 years since I've reallt done the private market.
